A marriage doesn't just happen;
It really takes effort to be
A knight in shining armor,
Which is what you are to me.

We've only been married for six short years,
Which does not seem very long,
But now in my heart I wish it were longer,
For it's to the right man I belong.

You're a man any woman would want
So tall, and with eyes that shine;
Handsome, romantic and a Christian as well,
Oh, Lew, I'm so glad you're mine.

A great husband, father and grandfather you are,
No one could ask for more.
And you love me, my darling, in spite of my faults.
You are truly the man I adore.

When we said our vows six years ago
I committed my life to you,
And I'll cherish your love for the rest of my life,
You're the man of my dreams, sweet Lew

Today it has been 15 years since we wed,
And I hardly know how to begin
To tell you how thankful I am for your love
And the wonderful wife you have been.

I couldn’t have known on that day long ago
The joy it would bring to my life
When the cute high school girl pursued by my friend
Would become his friend’s beautiful wife.

Personality, beauty, compassion and wit,
All wrapped up in just five feet four,
And who could resist those bright emerald eyes?
I couldn’t have asked for much more.

To think it all started with just that first date
And the movie we saw, “Chances Are.”
Though Cybil was striking and Downey lost out,
On THAT night - YOU were the star!

And since we first wed you have stood by my side
Through all of our trials and joys,
And yet blessed my life with the best gifts of all,
Jeffrey and Johnny, our boys.

I wonder sometimes why you put up with me
When I know I can be quite a louse;
Constantly working on all those old cars
With my friends in and out of the house.

Through it all, Karen, you’ve been there for me
As my wife and my very best friend,
And I want you to know that I’ll be there for you
And the rest of my life I will spend

Loving, providing and caring for you
And proving that this much is true –
Your love is the reason my life is worthwhile
And I would be lost without you.
