Andy, The Lion King
It's true, some people have dogs that do tricks
And others have birds that sing,
But Steve had a cat that topped all cats
And resembled The Lion King.
"Andy" was the name of this beautiful cat
Whose black and tan coat was fine,
And though Steve had four wonderful cats,
This was his favorite feline.
He'd put Andy over his shoulder most days,
And while stroking his beautiful fur
He could look in the mirror and see Andy there,
With eyes tightly shut - and that purr.
Though a special pillow was Andy's to claim,
His favorite place was Steve's lap.
There he'd sit with his tiny pink tongue peeking out
While taking a little cat nap.
And one special thing that Andy did best,
That was nothing short of a feat,
Was to wrap his tail around Steve's leg
To tell him, "I'm ready to eat!"
The other three cats knew well that they
Had to guard their food, every ounce,
For when they strolled just a little too far,
Andy was right there to pounce.
Andy was truly a lover, you see,
And if you should happen to check
You'd see him giving his own special hug
With his paws on both sides of Steve's neck.
Now Andy will no doubt be mssed by his Steve
But his praises forever he'll sing,
And always a place will remain in Steve's heart
For his Andy, The Lion King.

Our Border Collie Named Rex
We remember our Border Collie named Rex
Who has now been laid to rest.
Our Rex was not just another pet.
To us, he was the best.
For an occasional treat Rex loved to do tricks
That would end with a bark and a wag.
And being the patriot dog that he was,
He would even salute the Flag!
Lying around was not like our Rex.
He just loved to know he belonged.
And so when the family was off yet again,
Rex was always there tagging along.
Rex was a loving, compassionate friend
Who was loyal for over twelve years.
And when his time to leave us had come,
He left behind so many tears.
But we'll smile and remember our days with this pet
And not let the tears our joy vex,
Knowing we had the best that there was
In our Border Collie named Rex.
